Age Concern Romsey and District
The main hall set up for a group session, with the piano at the far end.

Volunteer with us.

Thirty-three people already do. A couple of hours here and there is genuinely enough.

Why volunteer with us

Everything we put on is run by volunteers. The lunches are not brought in: they are cooked from scratch that morning, two courses, by people who then clear up afterwards and work to food hygiene regulations while they do it. The Tuesday groups run because somebody sets the room out, puts the teas on and explains the game to whoever is new.

You do not need experience and you do not need to commit to a rota that runs your life. Most of our volunteers do one session, and the people they do it for look forward to it all week.

Current volunteer roles

Pick whichever fits around what you already do.

1st and 3rd Tuesday, or 2nd and 4th Thursday

Lunch club volunteer

Cook a two-course lunch from scratch, all home-cooked, serve it, and help clear up afterwards. You will be working to food hygiene regulations, and we will make sure you know what that means before you start.

How it works

Nothing formal. A conversation, then a first session alongside somebody who knows the ropes.

1

Get in touch

Fill in the form below or ring the office. A couple of lines is all we need.

2

A chat

An informal conversation about what you fancy doing and when you are free. No interview.

3

Come and see

Sit in on a session before you commit to anything, so you know what you are saying yes to.

4

Get started

Start alongside someone who has done it a while. Nobody is thrown in on their own.

“It actually gets me out of the house, and it also encourages the older community to get out and socialise.”
